Somebody Anybody Give John Goodman a Hug and Tell Him How Great He Is

John Goodman. John Goodman is a swell guy, and no one needs to hear that message more than John Goodman himself. In his appearance this week on “The Howard Stern Show,” Goodman revealed that, even though he is an almost universally beloved actor, he could still use a hug and some words of encouragement. Take the time he tried to talk to Kristen Wiig at a party. “I think she’s so great, and the social barriers broke down and I interrupted the conversation,” he revealed.

SZAs Got a Cyborg on Her Roster

Tonight, SZA’s gonna dance for her robot boyfriend. The android is one of many love interests in the music video for SZA’s track “Snooze,” from last year’s critically acclaimed record, SOS. We see the R&B singer, together with two background dancers, performing sexy choreography in an empty gymnasium that makes you wonder if part-time creative director Teyana Taylor is involved in the project. SZA is in a sheer, sparkling gold leotard, and the machine boyfriend sits in a leather armchair for his lap dance.

Talk shows are already their own farce: The format is overused and rarely changing, most “impromptu” celeb stories are pre-vetted by producers, and the field is overrun by men named Jimmy. It comes as no surprise that their chatter has been the target of satire for as long as Ed McMahon or Jack Torrance have boomed “Heeeeere’s Johnny!” Beyond your standard Saturday Night Live parodies, however, lies a bizarro world of fictional hosts who deliver what actual talking heads can’t.
