The most “dazzling” of the royals, she epitomized glamour and charm while simultaneously living with constant heartache and a lack of purpose.

The Eight Career Options for Romantic-Comedy Heroines

Before making No Strings Attached, Natalie Portman always wanted to star in a romantic comedy, but she was wary of the genre’s typical female lead. “The girls are always in fashion, and it’s always about their clothes,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “That stuff offends me.” In No Strings, Portman instead plays a workaholic doctor, but what she may not realize is that the female M.D. who has sex like a man is a rom-com cliché, too.

The Little Prince Crash-lands on This Planet

Take flight. The curtain for The Little Prince at the barnlike Broadway Theater seems to promise that whatever’s behind it will be faithful to the book. Not only does it say “The Little Prince” right there in loopy letters, but the image includes copyright details: the publisher (Gallimard) and date (1945). It could almost be a blown-up book cover! But do not judge a nouveau cirque show by its curtain.

The Many Wacky Easter Eggs of the 2013 Kardashian Christmas Card

Last night’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians Christmas special featured a bunch of “never-before-seen” home videos, moments in which the clan reminisced about their pre-fame days, and, most important, a look at this year’s Christmas card. It’s a wonderful tradition, and although the average family’s photos might get less embarrassing as the years progress, the Kardashians’ just get wackier and wackier. There were the matching white clothes, the motorcycle gangwear, the year Lamar might have been Photoshopped in, 2011’s 3-D motif, and last year’s, which featured Kim’s now-dead kitten, Mercy.

Throughout its run, The Patient thoughtfully followed Alan and Sam’s therapist-patient relationship through each of those stages, and the finale chronicles Alan’s valiant efforts to execute the final one, peacefully and professionally ending his tenure as Sam’s pet therapist.

The Racial Wonderland of Aladdins Genie

Three Genies: Broadway’s Michael James Scott, cartoon Robin Williams, and Will Smith. Back in December, when Entertainment Weekly dropped the exclusive first photos of Disney’s live-action movie Aladdin, many people were confused. The cover features the film’s leads: Naomi Scott as Jasmine, characteristically self-serious and wearing the princess’s classic hue of turquoise. Mena Massoud as the titular street rat, almost-but-not-quite back-to-back with his co-star (no doubt Photoshopped into place). And then, arms caging them from above, with an uncanny smile and a distinctly human-colored body, is Genie by way of Will Smith.

The Unwavering Sinad OConnor

Friends, collaborators, and admirers on the life and legacy of a “machete-cutting truth teller.” Photo: Rob Verhorst/Redferns When Sinéad O’Connor died on July 26 of natural causes, an outpouring of love and regret flooded social media over the loss of a massive talent and truth teller. For an artist who primarily regarded herself as a protest singer, pop stardom was never a cozy fit for O’Connor, especially in the early ’90s, when her actions were construed as agitprop or merely baffling.
